As Design Director, you’ll lead teams in defining the work we produce, from how it should function to how it should feel. You’ll provide guidance and direction to your team, applying your expertise in visual design, user experience, interaction, typography, and brand, to ensure the work we ship is exceptional and supports objectives. This is a hands-on role, leading projects from ideation through deployment, while managing, mentoring, and supporting a team of designers.

This role is open to candidates in Vancouver, Toronto, or NYC.

What You’ll Do

• Lead, manage, and empower cross-functional teams to produce exceptional work
• Guide the design process bringing together strength in interface, interaction, and brand
• Define project goals and objectives that go beyond the brief and support our mission
• Drive concepting and ideation in pursuit of innovative approaches and solutions
• Help guide the craft of projects that require greater hands-on design direction
• Lead client workshops, presentations, pitches, and reviews
• Develop and build positive and trusting relationships with client-side colleagues
• Foster an environment that balances high performance with happiness and healthiness
• Support the new business team on evaluation, planning, and pitching
• Help strengthen our reputation as a leading agency by supporting marketing efforts
  

What You’ll Bring

• 10+ years experience working within a digital agency, startup, or design consultancy
• 3+ years experience leading, mentoring, and building a visual design team
• Exceptional portfolio of work for notable brands demonstrating mastery of skill and craft
• Expertise in visual design, interface design, typography, grids, brand identity, and design systems
• Natural ability to communicate, present, and gain buy-in internally and with clients
• Personal perspective on design’s ability to shape business, brands, and relationships
• Entrepreneurial drive and demonstrable leadership capabilities
• Ability to work within PST and EST time zone work hours
